About This Quote

In this quote, Doctor Johnson expresses his fear of what will happen to those who have lived a life that is cut short. In fact, his fear is quite real. Most people live a span of years and never have to deal with the fact that they have lived their entire lives without being able to accomplish anything great. The only thing that a person can do with a life cut short is to look back and realize what they were able to do. If a person has not been able to accomplish anything great, then what has he been able to do? Of course, there are some things that can be done but it is unlikely that anyone would ever reach them.
